Hunter X Hunter is well known in the anime and manga world for its long and frequent hiatuses. Its last chapter, Chapter 390, was released 1276 days ago or approximately 3 years and 5 months (as of the writing of this article).

But HxH fans were quick to react and make speculations when a certain Yoshihiro Togashi(冨樫義博 @Un4v5s8bgsVk9Xp) made a Twitter account on the 24th of May with the following words in the profile bio: 公式( )です。 主に原稿の 進捗状況を お伝えしていきます。[It is official ( ) . I will mainly tell you the progress of the manuscript.] The account so far has only made 1 tweet stating: とりあえずあと4話。(4 more episodes for the time being.) which fans quickly assumed to be 4 new chapters of HxH in progress.

On the same day, Yūsuke Murata (One-Punch Man) confirmed that the person behind the said Twitter account is in fact Togashi himself.

This means that HxH’s longest hiatus will soon come to an end. With this and with the rumors floating around that Togashi will let his wife, Naoko Takeuchi (creator of the Sailor Moon series) continue making HxH, fans are hoping to see more of their favorite manga in the coming days to come.

Hunter X Hunter has been serialized in Shueisha’s shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump since March 1998. It was adapted into a 62-episode anime television series produced by Nippon Animation and directed by Kazuhiro Furuhashi, which ran on Fuji Television from October 1999 to March 2001. The manga has been translated into English and released in North America by Viz Media since April 2005. Both television series have been also licensed by Viz Media, with the first series having aired on the Funimation Channel in 2009 and the second series broadcast on Adult Swim’s Toonami programming block from April 2016 to June 2019.
